This year, Malaysia and Japan will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy (LEP) and the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries.
MAJECA recognises that these milestones are a significant opportunity to highlight the impact of the LEP and importance of Malaysia – Japan bilateral relations, as well as give the private sector a window to contribute towards revitalising the role of the LEP and specifically for Malaysia – Japan relations.
MAJECA organised and chaired a Roundtable Meeting (RTM) to document the achievements, successes and outcomes of this policy that had lasted 40 years, and to seek considered opinions from representatives of Government ministries & agencies, development corridor agencies, universities and economic thinktanks, human resources development councils, private sector business associations and the LEP alumni associations.
The discussions were guided by the aim to explore how the Policy can be developed / re-shaped going forward as the world faces new challenges and developments in areas of post-pandemic recovery, sustainability, green & renewable energy, digitalisation & digital transformation amongst other emerging trends to further deepen the Malaysia – Japan ties for mutual economic development.
Below are photos of the various representatives who participated at the Roundtable Meeting:
MAJECA thanks its Executive Committee and stakeholders who attended the Roundtable Meeting and shared their valuable insights and inputs.
