Meeting & Luncheon with Former Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Shinzo Abe on 11 March 2022 at Intercontinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Tan Sri Azman Hashim, President, MAJECA, Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal, Vice-President, MAJECA, Tan Sri Dr Michael Yeoh, Hon. Secretary and Mr Goh Peng Ooi, EXCO Member, MAJECA met with Former Prime Minster of Japan, H.E. Shinzo Abe on 11 March 2022 over a luncheon at Intercontinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Also in attendance at this luncheon were, His Excellency Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, Mr Imai Takaya, Special Advisor to the Cabinet, Cabinet Secretariat, Mr Makio Miyagawa, Former Special Advisor on National Security, National Security Secretariat & Former Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, Mr Kano Takehiro, Director-General, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Asian Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and Mr Kawano Shu, Director, Second Southeast Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan.

They exchanged views on the Malaysian Look East Policy as this year marks its 40^th Anniversary. The meeting also discussed the future of Malaysia-Japan relations in respect to the economic development and investment opportunities for both countries. The representatives of MAJECA touched on MAJECA’s involvement with Japanese business associations such as JAMECA, Keizai Doyukai, KEIDANREN as well as Malaysian associations with links to Japan such as the East Asia Business Council. The discussions also highlighted MAJECA’s achievements, trends of Japanese investments and how Japan can further collaborate with the Malaysian business community. MAJECA also shared on its upcoming activities and its insights on new developments in the sphere of ESGs, SDGs, IR4.0, digital, green and circular economy.
