The 36^th AJBM was hosted by Japan’s Keizai Doyukai in Tokyo.  The AJBM is held annually, with ASEAN member nations and Japan taking turns to host the meeting.  The Secretariat for AJBM is held by Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives).  The last AJBM held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2009 was the 35^th meeting.

JAMECA and MAJECA organized a Roundtable Meeting (RTM) during the Tokyo visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Haji Tun Abdul Razak.  The RTM was attended by top Japanese businessmen and industrialists. The Prime Minister held an active dialogue with the Japanese businessmen, answering a host of questions raised.

6-8 October 2010: ASEAN-Japan Business Meeting (AJBM)

MAJECA hosted the 36th iteration of the Malaysian National Committee for the ASEAN-Japan Business Meeting (AJBM).

The AJBM is held annually, with ASEAN member nations and Japan taking turns to host the meeting. The Secretariat for AJBM is held by Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives). The previous AJBM was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

25 November 2010: 29th MAJECA-JAMECA Joint Conference in Kuala Lumpur

MAJECA hosted the 29th Joint Conference at the Prince Hotel & Resorts in Kuala Lumpur.

The focus of the Joint Conference was on Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme and the business opportunities arising therefrom. YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, MITI Minister officiated at the 29th Joint Conference, delivering the Keynote Address on “New Economic Model: Its Implementation & Opportunities for Investments” followed by a dialogue session with participants.

There were 66 Japanese participants, led by JAMECA President, Mr Mikio Sasaki, and approximately 50 Malaysian participants.
The Chief Executive Officer of PEMANDU, YB Senator Dato’ Seri Idris Jala and his team from the various National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) made presentations of selected sectors that interested the Japanese, i.e.:

• Business Services
• Communications Content & Infrastructure
• Oil, Gas and Energy
• Electronics & Electrical
• Tourism

YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, Chairman of Energy Commission of Malaysia presented on “Outlook for Malaysia’s Power Sector”.

Speakers from Japan made presentations on the following topics:

• Overview of Nuclear Energy & Japanese Technology by Hitachi, Ltd
• Overview of Smart Grid Energy & Renewable Energy by Toshiba Corporation
• Future Opportunity of Electrical & Electronics Industry in Malaysia by Sony EMCS Malaysia
• Financial Service in Malaysia by Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd
• Tourism between Japan and Malaysia by Japan Airlines

The President of MAJECA participated in the inaugural Asian Business Summit, hosted by Nippon Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) and held in Tokyo with the theme “Building Global Prosperity through Sustainable Asian Growth”. The summit was well-attended by top executives from thirteen (13) apex business organizations of eleven (11) Asian countries.

Keidanren is a comprehensive economic organization formed in May 2002 by the amalgamation of Keidanren (Japan Federation of Economic Organizations) and Nikkeiren (Japan Federation of Employers’ Associations). Its membership of 1,603 comprises 1,281 companies, 127 industrial associations and 47 regional economic organizations (as of June 15, 2011).

Its mission is to accelerate growth of the Japanese and global economy, and to strengthen the corporations to create value and transform the Japanese economy into something sustainable and driven by the private sector, made through reinforcement of the idea of individuals and local communities.

Keidanren also attempts to resolve international problems and to deepen economic relations with other countries through policy dialogue with governments, business groups and concerned international organizations.
